Founded in December 1944, Victor Babeș University is a distinguished public medical university in Timișoara with approximately 6,800 students enrolled across its three faculties—Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy—and is internationally accredited, named after the pioneering bacteriologist Victor Babeș .

- The university offers 6-year MD and Dentistry programmes, a 5-year Pharmacy programme, and shorter nursing and support-health bachelor’s degrees in English, French, and Romanian, operates across multiple campuses with eight dormitories and over 25 teaching hospitals, supports extensive research and clinical training in modern labs and libraries, and hosts an international student body from over 47 countries.

Rich History of Romania and Heritage
Roman Dacia (106 AD) was conquered under Trajan; Roman withdrawal (271 AD) left a Latinized populace that evolved into medieval Romanians. Wallachia and Moldavia formed in the 14th c., paying tribute to the Ottoman Empire while preserving Orthodox faith, and Transylvania remained under Hungarian and Habsburg rule .
The 1859 union of Wallachia and Moldavia created modern Romania, recognized in 1878. After WW I, the 1918–20 unification (“Greater Romania”) included Transylvania. Monarchy yielded to communism post-WW II; the 1989 revolution overthrew Ceaușescu, ushering in democracy, market reforms, and NATO/EU membership .
